Oral fungus or oral candidiasis is an oral fungal infection caused by candida fungi that are normally found in the body in small amounts.
When these organisms multiply excessively cause infection (candidiasis) which can sometimes turn into chronic conditions.
If these fungi enter the bloodstream, the infection can spread to other parts of the body.
Hemorrhagic infection is more common in newborns, children who have long-term venous catheterization and children with weak immune systems caused by diseases or medications.
What are the symptoms of oral fungus?
Mouth fungus comes in the form of painful white or yellow parchment on the tongue, lips, gums and palate (the roof of the mouth) until the inner cheeks.
It can also spread in the esophagus, which causes pain when swallowing and may therefore notice that it has difficulty in breastfeeding either from the breast or bottle.
How can you diagnose such a condition? What is treated?
The child is diagnosed by examining the symptoms he or she experiences
A swab of the ulcers in the mouth is also examined and examined under a microscope for fungi.
These fungi are also grown in vitro in order to determine the type and nature of the existing fungi to choose appropriate treatment such as the use of topical antifungal agents such as nystatin and others.
